MORE DETAILS ON E/3’S BOTANICAL ORGANIC FORMULA
Citrus limon peel water (lemon peel floral water)
Lemon has antibacterial properties on the skin, purifying and brightening it when applied topically. It contains alpha-hydroxy-acids, or AHAs, which are enzymes that cleanse the skin by breaking down dirt, excess oil, product such as make up and dead skin, making it easier to reveal the fresh new skin underneath.
Prunus armeniaca kernel oil (apricot kernel oil)
Rich in vitamin A and minerals, apricots produce a velvety oil that softens and seals in moisture. The oil is chiefly composed of oleic acid and linoleic acid, both of which are unsaturated fats beneficial for the skin.
Butyrospermum parkii butter (shea butter)
Shea butter is a natural fat derived from the nuts of the shea tree that has been used for centuries in West African cultures for its medicinal and cosmetic benefits. Shea butter contains a high concentration of vitamins A, E, and F, which work together to nourish and moisturise the skin. Its fatty acids also help to protect the skin's natural oils and improve its elasticity. Shea butter is particularly beneficial for dry, sensitive, or ageing skin as it can help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It is also a great ingredient for those with eczema, psoriasis, or other skin conditions, as it can soothe and heal irritated skin. Overall, shea butter is a fantastic natural option for a healthy, hydrated, and glowing skin.
Glycerin
It is a natural moistening additive, which maintains the moisture content of the skin or formula itself. Its moisturising and softening effects one from its ability to capture water molecules and lock them in the cells of the epidermis. It is found in its natural state in cherries, but also in all-natural fats like those of the skin.
Arachidyl alcohol
Another fatty alcohol which doesn't dry the skin but acts as an emollient which relaxes and softens the skin.
Simmondsia chinensis seed oil (jojoba oil)
Deeply penetrating, jojoba oil has a dry texture that rebalances the flow of sebum and prevents dehydration of the skin. Due to its soothing and healing properties, it is perfect for sensitive skin. It also helps your skin fight external aggressions especially cold and wind.
Coco-glucoside
Emollient of natural origin, it softens and smoothens the skin, and acts as a skin feel and texture agent. An ideal natural substitute for silicone.
Behenyl alcohol
Behenyl alcohol is a natural, vegetable source long chain fatty alcohol used to regulate viscosity in formulations. It functions as a thickener and stabilizer and may be used as a co-emulsifier.
Coconut alcohol
It acts as an emollient, therefore retains moisture in the skin. It is also used as an emulsion stabilizer to combine water and oil in products.
Arachidyl glucoside
It is an emulsifier, i.e. it allows to mix aqueous and fatty phases to obtain an emulsion. It is 100% natural.
Titanium dioxide
It is a natural mineral powder used in large particules as a white cosmetic dye. Not to be confused with the same (and controversial) ingredient in nanoparticles.
Citrus limon peel oil (lemon peel oil)
Lemon has antibacterial properties on the skin, purifying and brightening it when applied topically. It contains alpha-hydroxy-acids, or AHAs, which are enzymes that cleanse the skin by breaking down dirt, excess oil, product such as make up and dead skin, making it easier to reveal the fresh new skin underneath.
Benzyl alcohol
An antimicrobial preservative and solvent. One of the few preservatives allowed in organic products. It is naturally present in apricots, almonds, apples, asparagus, etc.
Xanthan gum
An excellent, sugar-based, natural thickener for emulsions and cleansing systems. It is a polysaccharide produced through a bio-fermentation process of the Xanthamonas campestris bacteria and sucrose or glucose.
ci 77492
Iron oxides are inorganic compounds of iron and oxygen that have been used as colouring agents in cosmetics since the early 1900s. Iron oxides occur naturally - this one being a yellow colour.
Dehydroacetic acid
Used as an antimicrobial and fungicide preservative.
Limonene, citral
These are not ingredients in the formula, but naturally occurring allergens mostly from essential oils which have to be indicated on packaging over a certain threshold as per European regulations. According to the European Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety (SCCS), 1% to 3% of the European population may be allergic to these natural substances.
